Google Adsense team recently sent a newsletter to all publishers to announce that Adsense ads will feature the +1 button on your website starting this October. We have seen the +1 button launched on Google Search, then publishers’ websites, and now it will appear right in Adsense ads so that visitors can recommend specific ads and make them more visible to their friends.
However, some publishers asked that if clicking on the Google +1 button could generate more revenue? The answer is No, a +1 button click is not counted as a click on ad. However, Adsense team believes that the recommendations could attract visitors to the ads on your site more, so publishers could receive more clicks and higher returns. Here are the examples of how Google +1 will appear on your ads:
According to the newsletter, +1’s will be an additional signal to determine an ad’s relevance. It will bring your site to the ad auction and help AdSense to display more useful ads to your users.
The +1 button will appear on AdSense for content and AdSense for mobile content display for the following ad types: image, animated gif, and Flash ads. If you think the +1 feature and social annotations on ads couldn’t work for you, you can opt out of the program anytime so that they don’t appear on your pages. To do that, log in to Adsense, go to Allow & block ads tab – Advanced Settings – select either Content, Mobile Content, or Mobile Content Apps from the Product list and then click the block button in the Social Ads Preference section.
I myself see the ads with recommendations look untidy and not sure if they could really bring the ads to your readers’ notice. What do you think about the change from Adsense?
Disclosure: We might earn commission from qualifying purchases. The commission help keep the rest of my content free, so thank you!

This will certainly brings ads into reader’s notice. Because they see the faces of their friends on the Ads they might be more interested.
Another reason because the Ad appearance is changed, it looks less like Ads and may positively impact for some time. I realized it when the appearance of leaderboard was changed that invited more clicks. Lets see what it will happen.

I agree. If lots of your friends and others in your social network share the ads, then they will get more prominence and or display time. So this could (potentially) increase your earnings.
However am not sure how the ads would get displayed more?

We will need to experiment the new feature to see how it will affect our earnings. The program will start soon and we soon will see the effect. I will try it for at least 2 weeks.

My earnings very rarely fluctuate (must work harder) so it would be easy to tell if there is a increase/decrease in earnings.
I’ve just been notified there is now a adsense gambling category which I have opted into, that is also a gamble like this +1.
At least adsense gives us the chance to always opt out again, we can but try.

Another stupid idea from Google…How can a company that got search engine mechanics and marketing right fail so miserably at everything else it comes up with.
I doubt very seriously readers will +1 an ad but I can see that if they do there will be a bunch of bogus clicks …and if I were an advertiser I would be pissed off that google is is basically advertising their crap +1 button on my add as I know it would not give me any releative advertising information.
Right now I have the Google +1 on a few of my sites but very soon I will be removing it on all of them as it’s a completely useless metric that does nothing.

The +1 button on ads will be more helpful for advertisers
Justin Germino says
Do people click on a link in SERP more often if a friend in their network +1’d it? They are using same logic for ads. Generally people are more inclined to “trust” a recommendation from someone they know.
If it works well who knows what follows next? BSA ads showing +1 and who liked those ads too?

I had not found the change till these days.
For me, it does not matter on the change, for I almost have no income from AdSense.

I am a Adsense publisher and been using it past 2 years.I am happy with my earning but i want to increase my earning further. Can you suggest me some other PPC programs with which i can add adsense and the other PPC to increase my earning…I heard Infolinks is best to work with Adsense. Please do let me know
Tuan Do says
Hi,
I tried Infolinks along with Adsense ad before but its earning is just about 1/10th of Adsense’s. You will need a good traffic to earn a decent amount from Infolinks. I myself think Adsense ads is enough for PPC, don’t put too many ads on your page as it could look very cluttered.
