A few weeks ago, we’ve seen the first demo of the voice assistant Siri on iPhone 4 and that has bring some hopes to people who don’t want to upgrade their phones. There was a big problem for porters as Apple’s servers don’t authorize voice commands coming from devices other than iPhone 4S. However, the issue has been solved as Troughton-Smith found a solution to make the older devices fully work with Apple’s servers.
He ported Siri to iPhone 4 successfully and it even can run on the 4th-generation iPod Touch. There is just a minor problem with Siri on iPod Touch, its microphone is not working as well as the one on iPhone 4, so users will need to speak clearly and louder to make it work properly.
Check out the in-depth iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S Siri comparison video below, we can see that Siri on iPhone 4 can run with full functionalities, it is working fast, Siri Dictation is impressive and most importantly, it can connect to Apple’s servers.
And here is the Siri demo on iPod Touch 4G
Requirements to install Siri on iPhone 4
The detailed instruction for the Siri port hasn’t been available yet because it is in final development. However, there are some important requirements for you to notice and prepare because it will go out very soon. Here are what will be included in the instruction:
- A jailbroken iPhone 4S and an iPhone 4.
- Files from an iPhone 4S that they can’t distribute.
- A validation token pulled live from the iPhone 4S to make it work with servers.
- Less than 20 minutes to complete the instruction of about 20 steps.
I believe the detailed guide will be available in just 1-2 weeks, so stay tuned for the latest updates. Now if you want to try the graphical elements of Siri on your iPhone 4, you can follow the instruction in video below. Remember that voice commands don’t work yet.
