I’ve used Xfinity’s Internet service for nearly a year and I know they would increase the price in my upcoming bill. Last year, I signed up for the Performance Pro Internet plan with the download speed of 200 Mbps and it costs $49.99 per month. In the agreement, Xfinity stated that the price is good for 1 year and after that, it would come back to the regular price of $92.95/month. That rate is ridiculous and out of my budget.
At the moment, Xfinity is still offering an introductory price of $49.99/month and you can even get $10/month discount when enrolling in automatic payments and paperless billing. That means new customers just need to pay $39.99/month which is quite reasonable.
Absolutely, I don’t want to pay more than $50/month for the Internet service and after some research, I figured out that I could contact Xfinity to avoid the price hike after the first year. My preference was sticking with Xfinity and avoid the hassle of switching to another Internet service provider. Xfinity has pretty good customer service and you can easily reach them via live chat or phone call.
Before the 12th bill was sent out, I contacted support to check for any available offers once the first-year promo ends. At first, he told me that my Performance Pro Internet plan would be dropped to a base package with slower download speed (dropping from 200 Mbps to 100 Mbps) and the price would increase to $59.99/month; And in case I want to keep the current speed, I need to pay extra $10/month. So the total would be $69.99 per month for the Performance Pro plan. I told him that the price is crazy and unacceptable.
The support person then told me to wait for a while so that he could search for available promotion and finally offered me the same price as first year. Therefore, there will be no change in my monthly bill as it stays at $49.99/month for the Performance Pro plan. Unfortunately, he couldn’t apply the $10/month Autopay discount for this plan, so existing customers are still paying more than new customers.
Later, he sent me the order details to confirm. Everything is exactly the same, except that there is an early termination fee of $110 which will apply if I cancel service within the next 12 months; The fee will not apply if I cancel within 30 days and it will decrease every month.
Overall, the offer is good enough for me since I don’t have to pay extra during the difficult time. In case you are in the same situation, I highly recommend you to contact Xfinity soon to negotiate on the monthly charge.
