It is not easy to find stylish mid-range headphones with decent sonic characteristics at the moment. My top choices were the Bowers & Wilkins P7 and Bang & Olufsen BeoPlay H6. Now, I’ve just figured out another choice, the Master & Dynamic MH30.

Design & Features
The Master & Dynamic MH30 comes in 3 color options, which are black, brown and gunmetal. I highly recommend you the brown leather with silver metal version because it will make you stand out of the crowd. The headphones can easily catch attention, in fact, a lot of people asked me about the brand when I wore them in a bus or subway. These are undoubtedly among the most beautiful headphones I’ve ever used, they even look much better than more expensive high-end cans.
I had the feeling of a premium product as soon as I opened the packaging. Even the audio cables and 3.5mm to 6.5mm adapter are placed carefully in a round leather-lined box. My girlfriend would think I propose to her if she saw this box. There are two cables inside the box, one long cable for home use and one shorter cable with microphone and in-line controls. The subtle details show how Master & Dynamic value their customers and obviously they want us to get the best initial impressions with their product.
Inside the box, you can also find a small carrying pouch. The MH30 is foldable, so it can fit into the pouch easily. Everything looks just amazingly perfect.
The headphones themselves are made of high-quality materials and you won’t see any plastic here. The earcup holders are all metal with a complicated design while the earpads and headband look stunning in brown lambskin leather.
The headphones are not suitable for people with large heads. I feel unpleasant after wearing the headphones for about 20 – 30 minutes. The on-ear design is often less comfortable than over-ear design but I could enjoy music for hours on many other on-ear headphones. The two earcups of MH30 are pressed tightly against my ears and that’s why my ears become so hot, red and painful. I don’t see benefits of the thick removable memory foam earpads in this case. This seems to be not a good choice for long listening sessions, at least for my head. I had to adjust the yoke to reach the maximum length, so I believe the headphones won’t fit any person that has a bigger head than mine.
The headphones have two audio jacks on two earcups, you can plug the audio cable to any of them to start listening to music. Moreover, you can share music with your friend by plugging his/her headphones into the unused 3.5mm jack.
Audio Quality
The Master & Dynamic MH30 is very easy to drive, so you can plug it directly to your smartphone or computer to start listening to music.
My first impression of the sound is great stereo separation and a deep, tight and punchy bass. This is not the muddy and overwhelming bass you hear on other cheap headphones. Therefore, the mids are still present and don’t get lost in the overall sound. The sound is not really bright and airy because of the slightly recessed treble but this is not necessarily a disadvantage. It seems like Master & Dynamic creates a warmer and richer sound to target young music listeners. The sound signature will be just perfect for Pop and EDM.
Obviously, the MH30 is not built for audiophiles who are looking for a well-balanced sound with a spacious soundstage. I’m not a fan of the warm sound signature but it is quite fun to use occasionally when I commute to work. An advantage of the sound is that you can play with any music genre without worrying about fatiguing treble spikes.
