A vector outer product of 1 million random vectors of length 500 gives the following computation time:

MacBook Pro 16″ Intel I9: 176 sec
MacBook Pro M1 Pro, 16″ 10 cores 2021: 640 sec
Mac Air M1 8 cores: 403 sec

As you can see, Intel is 3.6 times faster than M1 Pro, and the first M1 processor with 8 cores is 1.5 faster than the later “Pro” with 10 cores for this type of computation.
