I’ve reviewed a few EKSA products recently and was quite satisfied with them. The manufacturer has a wide range of headsets for low budgets while trying not to sacrifice the audio quality. Here we are checking out another low-cost gaming headset, the EKSA E3Z Air Joy Plus.

The product comes in simple packaging; There are just the headset, a cord extender, and a windscreen inside the box.
My first impression with the headset is that it is extremely lightweight. Specifically, it weighs just 0.45 lbs (204g). I am using another gaming headset and it is way heavier than this one. A huge benefit of the lightweight design is that it provides amazing comfort when wearing the headset for a long period of time. I can wear this headset for hours without feeling any pressure on top of my head. The earpads are also thick enough while the clamping force is just adequate so that I don’t feel pressure around my ears.
However, since the whole exterior is made of plastic, the headset feels a bit cheap. Fortunately, it looks quite durable and I don’t think it will be broken anytime soon. Besides, I’m really impressed that it uses a USB-C connection which is useful when you want to use the headphones with your computer or game consoles like the Nintendo Switch.
Both the cable and boom mic are non-detachable but it is acceptable for a budget headset like this. Another nice touch is that there is a red LED light on the earcups when you plug it in; This looks really cool when you’re gaming. On the left earcup, you can also find a dial to adjust volume level and a mute button for the microphone.
The microphone performs quite well in my test. However, since this is a directional mic, you should point it directly to your mouth, otherwise, your sound could be tiny. The ambient noise is reduced in real time, you can check out a sample in the video I posted above.
In terms of audio quality of the headset, obviously it can’t compete with more expensive headphones but it doesn’t sound bad at all, especially when you use it for gaming. If you listen to music with this headset, it might have some limitations as the soundstage is below average, the bass is very muddy and distortion happens occasionally.
Considering the fact that the headset costs just over $35, I have no complaint at all. I highly recommend you to check it out if you are looking for a low-budget USB-C gaming headset. It is available on EKSA’s official website right now.
