As a crowd-funded company on Indiegogo, Clean-tech has made a strong entrance in the air purifier game. Designed by Foxconn, the makers of most Apple products, they put the same simplicity mindset behind this product. The device comes with internals not seen on most purifiers. We were able to use the product and test it. We will discuss the air purifier in the next section.

Features & Performance
The Clean-tech air purifier came with the air purifier, power cable and its manual. The product was already was installed with the HEPA filter and UV-C so setup was very easy. Wait, there’s a light and filters you may ask. Yes, the air purifier is actually a two stage purifier. Inside, there is a HEPA filter which can collect the dust in the air and a UV-C light to remove the dust once trapped. This a different approach than most on the market. Their bulb also is much smaller when compared to the competitors which helps reduce the size.
Looking at the functionality, the Clean-tech purifier has just one button. This buttons turn on the device which will you put you in max speed. This max fan speed will last around two hours before going idle. After pressing again, you lower into minimum speed which can last a whole day and provides less noise. This minimum is helpful for sleeping or keep your noise pollution low. Other than this lone button, there is not much else to configure. No smartphone app, no sleep mode or any other function. There is nothing wrong with that as long as it purifies the air quite well.
The Clean-tech purifier can help reduce dust and other unwanted items in the air. For best results, this purifier should be used only in smaller rooms that are 200 square feet or smaller, such as bedrooms or home offices. When in minimum mode, the noise is very quiet and can be used as white noise. I used the purifier in my bedroom and had no issues going to sleep while it ran.
The HEPA filters are removable and it is recommended for them to be changed every so often. In order to change them out, you need to remove the feet and bottom plate, this will expose the filter.
Scoring and Final Thoughts
- Design
- 4 out of 5
- Capability
- 4 out of 5
- Usability
- 5 out of 5
The capabilities are very basic and doesn’t bring smartphone capability like we have seen with other models. The device will only purify around 200 square feet, which can be somewhat lacking. Lastly, the UV-C bulb needs to be replaced every two years and provides much more of a challenge than replacing the filters.
However, you can feel the difference with the UV-C light eliminating the dust particles without clogging up the filter. The device is a small form factor and can easily be placed in a room. If you are looking for a no-frill option, this one will be a great choice for you. Prices are at $229 on Amazon and other retailers.
