New generation of iPhone has been officially available and it comes in two versions this time, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Apart from considering between a 4.7-inch and a 5.5-inch iPhone, consumers also have to deal with choosing among different models, including A1549, A1586, A1589, A1522, A1524 and A1593.
I see a lot of people buy iPhone 6 in the U.S. or on eBay with global shipping but many of those phones couldn’t work in their countries because there are some iPhone models manufactured for different wireless carriers and markets. They have almost the same tech specs but there are some differences in cellular connectivity. The situation is much better this year as the new iPhone 6/6 Plus features new VoLTE (Voice over LTE) technology, which means you can buy a GSM version and still can use a full range of services on CDMA networks. For example, you can buy a sim-free T-Mobile phone and completely avoid CDMA to use it on Verizon. Some carriers offering VoLTE are T-Mobile, AT&T and Verizon in the US; Hutchinson Telecom (3), CSL and SmarTone in Hong Kong; SK Telecom, KT and LG U+ in South Korea and StarHub in Singapore.

As VoLTE hasn’t become popular worldwide yet, I’d recommend you to check carefully so that you can purchase the most compatible one. The model numbers of iPhones can easily be found on the box or on the back cover. The amount of iPhone 6’s model numbers is less than iPhone 5S’, then it is much easier for us to pick the right one. So, what are the differences between those iPhone models? Let’s check them out.

At the moment, the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus has 3 model numbers, which are A1522 (GSM), A1522 (CDMA) and A1524. Basically, the A1522 (GSM) bands are the same as iPhone A1549 (GSM), A1522 (CDMA)’s bands are the same as A1549 (CDMA), A1593 is the same as A1589 and A1524 is corresponding to the A1586. Details are shown below.
1. A1522 (GSM): This is the popular iPhone 6 Plus version that can work properly on most GSM carriers over the world, including United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. However, you can buy the unlocked iPhone 6 Plus in some countries in Asia and Europe like Singapore, Hong Kong, or Japan. Dear all
If you bought a sim free IPHONE at apple store phone will work for all country. IF you live in US unlocked phone will work with Any GSM carrier with 1 exception for CDMA carrier phone also work for Verizon as well and 50/50 will work with Sprint if they willing to rebrand your phone ( that what they said). All iPhone 6 and newer will support 99% all band in the world so depend what service your country have to offer.
All unlock phone should just pick up signal and work but for those phone keep showing no service that mean that phone is on black list ( bad IMEI or ESN depend how you want to call it ) If you live in US and have 1 of those phone it WILL NOT WORK FOR ANY CARRIER

Question, I had an MGAH2LL/A on Sprint when the phone was released and it worked flawlessly.
I gave that to my mother and I’m trying to find that older model to revert to, but with larger storage capacity (MGAC2LL/A), but it’s hard to find them with iOS 8 now. Anyway, is the Model Version MGCY2LL/A functionally-identical to MGAC2LL/A if I were remaining on Sprint Network?

Do you really believe this information is accurate? I bought iPhone 6 plus model MGAM2LL/A – A1522 printed on the back. Ok this is identified as a GSM 16gig phone on ATT which it was. . . But it is working just fine on VERIZON now. – you can do an IMEI equipment compatibility check on the Verizon-wireless web site – and it said for this phone “congratulations your equipment is compatible with the Verizon network” – or something like this. Turning off LTE I can still make calls so it can’t be some VoLTE trick.
I think the 1522 (GSM) and 1522(CDMA) models are hardware identical. . and some of the above info (although well meaning), at least regarding the 1522 model, is uniformed speculation.
Why would apple want to carry 2 versions of the same phone anyway? You could test this theory out by putting in all kinds of IMEI numbers into the the Verizon site – and refine your data. My guess is they electronically program the phones in the backroom before bringing them out – explaining for the different model numbers you see in the “about” screen – but the same model number on the back of the box – and resulting in all our confusion. . . .

Hi I am selling my girlfriend’s a1524 sprint phone on eBay. The sprint store unlocked the phone for her when she upgraded to a new phone. I just want to list the phone with an accurate description. If I list it simply as “unlocked” will that tell bidders enough about the phone, or will I need to tell them details about who the original carrier was and the fact that sprint unlocked the phone for us? Just not sure whether the bidders will have different options with this phone versus buying the same model from another seller that was “factory unlocked”?

I have a iPhone 6 plus A1522 and I purchased a new battery and I noticed it says the battery is for models A1549,1586, and 1589 and I am wondering what the difference is.
