Wireless in-ear headphones have got all the attention in the last few years and they’ve been always the first choice for most consumers. However, there is another kind of wireless headphones creating some buzz lately, called bone-conduction headphones. In this post, we’re checking out the HAYLOU PurFree.
Disclosure: We received the headphones in exchange for this review. We spent time testing them to make sure the review is honest and unbiased.

Features & Audio Quality
Out of the box, the PurFree comes with just a charging cable and ear plugs. It works just like any other wireless headphones; You pair it with your smartphone via Bluetooth and start enjoying music immediately. The biggest difference is that the ear pieces don’t sit on our ears; Instead, they rest on our cheekbones and therefore, there is nothing blocking our ears. The headphones uses tiny transducers to send vibrations and transmit audio along our bones to the ears. This design allows us to be aware of the surroundings when wearing the headphones.
Design-wise the HAYLOU PurFree looks like many other bone-conduction headphones on the market. It has just one multi-function button on the left ear piece and volume buttons on the right frame. The headphones use magnetic quick charging, so make sure to keep the cable included in the box. According to the manufacturer, the battery could last 6-8 hours on a single charge.
As expected, wearing the headphones is so comfortable and secured because the earpieces are hooked to my ears. There is no loose part and the frame hangs on my neck, so it is impossible to drop out as well. Thanks to the secured fit and IP67 water-resistant body, the headphones become ideal for a variety of exercises like running or cycling. You can still listen to your favorite music or podcasts while being aware of other people or vehicles on the road.
In terms of audio quality, this is still not something that audiophiles would appreciate. Having said that, the audio quality has been significantly improved over some other bone-conduction headphones that I’ve tested recently. The sound is richer and if you want more isolation, you can just use the included ear plugs. The sound is slightly better with the ear plugs but still sub-par as compared to in-ear headphones. We lose a lot of details in the mids, and you shouldn’t expect deep bass or open-air treble here.
Overall, the HAYLOU headphones are a perfect choice if you prioritize surrounding awareness, safety, and waterproofing over audio quality. It is suitable for people who want to enjoy music when working out, or for people with hearing deficiencies because this doesn’t drive air directly to vibrate eardrums. You can buy the product on its official website or Amazon for less than $100.
